FEO Members are Proud to Celebrate Achieving the Queen’s Awards for Voluntary Service

Jan Brumby and Andrew Fox with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

Fox Group FM is a proud member of For Entrepreneurs Only (FEO). Monday 20th December myself and Our Chief Executive, Andrew Fox, met with FEO’s CEO Jan Brumby to celebrate the achievement of being honoured with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.

This collective of business-owner volunteers, FEO members make a contribution of £3.5bn to the East Riding economy by utilising entrepreneurs and creating a healthy relationship between entrepreneurs in helping other entrepreneurs to start, adapt and grow businesses.

Jan Brumby, Chief Executive of FEO says:

“A business needs a driving force and Andrew has been that driving force for his company since he began his company back in 2006. He has now grown his business to now have multiple driving forces within the company. Like a recipe, all ingredients are essential and no matter the size of the ingredient, they all play a vital part in how successful Fox Group has now become. This collective driving force has contributed massively to the local economy by way of employment for the local area. In Humberside, surprisingly 86% of businesses employ less than 10 people, this is certainly not the case for Fox Group.

Given the unexpected previous years, it has required our members to acquire resilience and adaptability. Andrew’s team has certainly shown this, proving that he has now built a strong foundation that will not crumble under pressures like what has been seen last year.

We are absolutely over the moon to receive a Queen’s Award For Voluntary Service. It’s a fantastic recognition of our members for giving their valuable time, effort and commitment to the support of other like-minded individuals.”

Jan Brumby continues: “Over the last ten years FEO has helped literally thousands of entrepreneurs across all ages, with an aim to inspire and support them from the beginning, to the end of their business journey. Peer-led events, programmes and mentoring help participants to avoid making common business mistakes, enable bright ideas to develop and encourage a spirit of positivity and resilience.”

Andrew Horncastle is the Chairman and a founding member of FEO. He says:

“I am so happy that the collective efforts of members, our executive, our directors and key partners have the royal seal of approval – an accolade equivalent to a Knighthood for volunteer groups, that is so highly deserved.

FEO members employ over 23,000 individuals in the area. Therefore, our activity is in the interests of everyone who lives in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. The objective is to help grow a bigger and stronger local economy, create more wealth and increase the number of better and higher paying jobs, so that more money is earned locally and will be spent locally.”

Andrew Horncastle adds: “…As a team, FEO’s biggest job is to push a region that is open for business. We have a voice which helps to shape ideas and to influence.

Being recognised in this way is once again putting our region on the map. Lots of great stuff is happening here which makes this county a fantastic place to live, work and invest.”

For my own personal statement: “It was pleasure to be present for the coffee morning and meet with Jan Brumby. It was refreshing to hear such positivity from this incredible achievement. I hope in the near future our paths cross again.”
